Weekly shopping totals for 8/28 - 9/3: Saved 63%

Posted September 4, 2013

Time to calculate those savings!

Here are my weekly shopping totals for the week of 8/28 - 9/3/13. They include how much I would have spent without sales and coupons, how much I saved and how much I actually spent. How did you do this week?

Subtotal before sales and coupons: $203.54
Total saved: $ 127.60
Total paid: $75.95
Saved: 63%

My weekly budget is $80/week so I was under budget last week!

I shopped at Lowes Foods, Harris Teeter, Walmart (price-matched Aldi produce deals), CVS and Target this week. All of these stores were on the way home from other activities (other than the HT shop) so I wasn't spending a bunch of extra gas going to the store.

How did you do this week?

To figure out the percentage you saved:

Take the total amount saved divided by the total amount before sales and coupons.

How did you do this week?

We shopped at Lowe's Foods, Kroger and of course Harris Teeter. We spent 51.47 and saved 59.75. This was 53.8%. Considering we bought 3 dozen eggs, lots of powerade and Pepsi, 1.5 pounds of sausage, 7 pounds of ribs, 5 pounds of chicken thighs, 3 gallons of milk, bread, fruit and veggies, pasta and other stuff I am pretty pleased. If my sons didn't drink so much milk or eat so much meat my bill would be nothing.

Well, we were all over the place this week - Aldi, HT Lowes, Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, and FL. We combined our trips too also, the driving time otherwise would be crazy.

Our numbers are rounded since I couldn't get the cents to match up :p total retail: $238, OOP $120, saved $118 or 50%. It was a rather bizarre assortment of items with a lot of stock-up things: 14 12-pks of soda, 5 blueberries, 6 tissues, 2 eggs, 2 ketchup, cake flour, sugar cones for ice cream, 2 avocadoes, 2 cases water, a cherry pie, buttermilk, lima beans, 4 english muffins, 2 fritos, 10 lbs butter, 2 mixed nuts, red potatoes, green peppers, radishes, and a gallon of half & half.
