Weekly shopping totals for 9/25 - 10/1: Saved 73%!

Posted October 2, 2013

Time to calculate those savings!

Here are my weekly grocery and drug store shopping totals for the week of 9/25 - 10/1/13. They include how much I would have spent without sales and coupons, how much I saved and how much I actually spent. How did you do this week?

Subtotal before sales and coupons: $180.96

Total saved: $132.21

Total paid: $48.75

Saved: 73%!

I did not do much shopping at all last week. My totals would have been higher but I went all the way to Cary on Sunday for a class my daughter takes and forgot my purse! I usually shop while she is in class, but not that day.

My weekly budget is $80/week so I was well under budget last week. I plan to do a little more meat buying this week with some rain checks and current sales.

Last week, I shopped at Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Target and CVS.

How did you do last week?

To figure out the percentage you saved:

Take the total amount saved divided by the total cost of the products before sales and coupons.

How did you do this week?

jdouglas, I buy almost all of my sausage at the Nahunta place out at the farmer's market. A lot of my pork products in fact. They are only open Wedesdays through Saturdays but I find them worth the trip. I was just out there Saturday and picked up 4 pounds of hot bulk sausage for patties and two pound of link sausage.

Thanks for sharing your totals, jdouglas! I don't buy good Italian sausage so I am no help there. lol

Great job, Faye! My totals included a trip to Whole Foods, which accounted for half of my OOP. I really need to find a place where I can get good Italian sausage a little cheaper. Suggestions, anyone?

Total retail: $188.22, OOP $98.20, savings $90.02 or 49%. It was a rather bizarre assortment of stuff this week including 6 lbs of Italian sausage, a boneless prime rib roast (sale at HT, for DW's upcoming bday), 6 boxes of pasta, 12 bars of Cabot cheese, 2 lbs OM turkey for the pups' meds (Lowes sale), 4 12-pks of soda (Target sale), broccoli (HT sale), pretzels, chips.
