Weekly shopping totals for 9/18 - 9/24: Saved 62%

Posted September 26, 2013

Time to calculate those savings!

Here are my weekly shopping totals for the week of 9/18 - 9/24/13. They include how much I would have spent without sales and coupons, how much I saved and how much I actually spent. How did you do this week?

Subtotal before sales and coupons: $215.84

Total saved: $134.31

Total paid: $81.53

Saved: 62%

Last week was a good week to stock up on meat at both Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter, so I did!  I also took advantage of the great deals on shredded cheese and milk at Harris Teeter and produce at Kroger.

My weekly budget is $80/week so I was $1.53 over last week. I can live with that.

I shopped at Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Kroger and CVS last week.

How did you do last week?

To figure out the percentage you saved:

Take the total amount saved divided by the total amount before sales and coupons.

How did you do this week?

I spent $163 and saved $162. Most of my purchases were to replenish my pantry. September is Preparedness Month. With winter looming on the horizon, it's a great time to stock up on food I can cook on a firepit or gas grill. I learned valuable lessons the last time we had a big ice storm.
