This week we are having:

Crab cakes, cole slaw, corn, salad

Chicken tikka masala, rice, sauteed zucchini, mushrooms and onions

Baked salmon, sauteed squash & onions, sweet potatoes

Slow cooker Italian chicken, whole wheat pasta, salad

    twinredheads - You are right - that is WAY too much for brisket! Food Lion had it for $5.99/lb the last time I bought it in April and that was the regular price. It is shrink wrapped and the quality was surprisingly good. I have since stopped eating red meat so I haven't bought it in a long time, but anything more than $6/lb is too much for me.

    Thanks for the recipe Faye. What is a good price for beef brisket? I thought $13 a pound was a bit steep.

    Tonight: chicken tenders, mac n cheese,and biscuits(kids) or tacos(hubby)

    Tomorrow: crockpot ranch pork chops and gravy, mash potatoes, green beans, corn,rolls

    Wednesday: sandwiches and chips

    Thursday: steak and baked potato
    Friday: TBD

    ascherer - Will do. I love hushpuppies as well! And leftover grilled steak is great on a salad cold. Or you could thin slice it and add it to grilled onions and mushrooms then put in a roll and broil with cheese on top for a philly cheese steak. Now I am getting hungry. lol

    We grilled last night. So I need to figure out how to repurpose a grilled steak. Once I figure that out, I can determine the sides.

    twinredheads - Change of plans...I'm starting the meal train at your house tonight! :-D

    I usually cook my brisket in the slow cooker or oven. It's really good with BBQ sauce and lots of onions, pepper and garlic in the slow cooker.

    My husband LOVES brisket but in looking for a recipe I found that it takes anywhere from 6-24+ hours to grill it (and it costs $13 a pound!) that I decided to buy it from City BBQ instead. Ordered 1/2 pound each of pulled pork and brisket along with hushpuppies (for a little under $20). Will add baked beans, cornbread, veggie tray and chips that I already have on hand. Happy Labor day all!

    Non traditional here too. We are having tacos with all the fixings and cupcakes with silly eyes. I found candy eye balls on sale at Walmart and rae can't wait to give her cakes a face lol

    Going non traditional as well. Took ground pork out of freezer to make meat sauce. Probably going to make baked ziti :)
