Weekly meal plans and Monday menus

Posted March 13

Turkey tenderloin and carrots with portabella, spinach and alfredo pasta.

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening or the week, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like.

If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, take a look at the Comments section to see the meals posted by other readers.

What's on your menu tonight?

This week at the Prosser Cafe, we'll be enjoying the following:

Monday: Turkey tenderloin and carrots cooked in the slow cooker, portabella mushroom and spinach alfredo pasta.

I made this Sunday for dinner and it was fabulous so the leftovers are on the menu for Monday night as well. You can see the meal in the photo above.

I cooked the 2 Butterball turkey tenderloins and carrots for 5 hours on low in the slow cooker in 1/2 cup veggie broth and seasoned on both sides with pepper, garlic powder and McCormick's Perfect Pinch rotisserie chicken seasoning.

The sauce for the pasta included sauteed mushrooms and fresh spinach, alfredo sauce, 1 tsp butter, parmesan, garlic powder and pepper.

Tuesday: Salmon burgers, roasted sweet potatoes, salad

Wednesday: Spinach, mushroom, egg, Swiss and veggie sausage breakfast bake with fruit salad on the side

Thursday: Garlic shrimp, penne pasta, salad

Friday: Homemade veggie pizza, steamed broccoli

tabithaluvschris - and Subway is offering a $6 footlong every day. Today's sub is Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki. Probably not one everyone would want, but an option for future meals. You can see mroe details and the daily list here:

ybaverage2003 - thanks! And you go with that frugal meal of yours!

Thanks to everyone for sharing your menus!

tabithaluvschris - Vlynn gave you some great ideas and I concur with the Domino's option being pretty cheap. They have a deal where you can order medium pizzas and subs for $5.99 each when you order at least 2. Have fun with your niece and her family!

Also, check out the kids eat free database (and pass it on to your niece) on the WRAL Go Ask Mom section here: http://www.wral.com/lifestyles/goaskmom/page/7747323/Here's the link to copy and paste in case the link above does not work.

VLNN, you Rock!!! Thanks for the heads up, Moes it is then. My hubby will be ecstatic!! He's an only child, not use to this. HA!
    Thank you very much!!!

re Moe's monday deal - it includes drink & salsa with chips along with the burrito, so that is probably a super deal! Around $7 per adult. Don't see were else you could eat out this cheap!

tabithaluvschris re: kid & budget friendly meals. If you're not set on getting out of the house, both dominos & papa john have online deals that can be used for takeout (see details & codeson hip2save website) which would probably be cheaper than eating out unless everyone wants a different kind of pizza :-)

Tabithaluvschris re kid & budget friendly place to eat. Moe's has discount items every day & kids usually like the kids meals there, but with 4 adults & 2 kids, you're still looking at close to $50 with tax if you all get drinks, too. City bbq at white oak shopping center has a $17.99 meal for 2 that includes brisket, bbq, turkey, & sausage along with 2 sides & 2 toasts that could easily feed 2 adults & a kid, so 2 of these would cover everyone, but again with drinks & tax, you're still bumping up against $50.
