The summer season officially starts this weekend. Here’s what’s happening in the family fun department through Monday. At the end, I list the holiday hours for popular family destinations.

Don't forget that there are still strawberries out there to pick and that public pools are opening for the season! It's a big weekend for pool openings. As always, check WRAL.com’s Out & About calendar for more.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Dinosaurs! We have the Dinosaurs exhibit at the N.C. Zoo. It features a collection of animatronic dinosaurs and has been a huge hit. Another bit of news from the zoo: One of its polar bears has returned.
And the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences’ Dinosaurs in Motion is open. This is a stunning exhibit that features 14 life-sized metal sculptures of dinosaurs. Read my full review for more about this exhibit, including some cautions if you have young kids or children who are sensitive to sound or light. This is a dark and loud exhibit. (Full disclosure: Go Ask Mom is a sponsor of this major exhibit).
And we have baseball! The Durham Bulls are out of town until Monday when they have a game at 5:05 p.m. The Carolina Mudcats in Zebulon are home all weekend.
