'Nutcracker' gets more magical

Wow, things quiet way down after Christmas. It’s going to be a slow couple of weeks on the family fun front and I’m taking a bit of a break, but there are still plenty of activities to keep you busy.

As always, check WRAL.com’s Out & About calendar and our Winter Break Guide for many more activity ideas.
Also, Carolina Ballet’s The Nutcracker continues with shows through Sunday. Don’t forget about our ticket deal.
Some of the light shows are still open even after Christmas. Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsville ends Saturday. Lake Myra Christmas in Wendell and Meadow Lights in Johnston County run through Dec. 31.
The N.C. Museum of Art hosts its regular family tours at 10:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. These tours, which are free and first come, first served, are best for ages 5 to 11 and their adults. Guides take visitors on a 30-minute tour through part of the museum.
And North Regional Library in Raleigh is hosting a Winter Wonderland Celebration from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday. There will be hot chocolate, cookies, crafts, stories and songs. Participants are invited to wear their winter best - holiday suit or dress to their Halloween costume. Registration is required for this. It’s free.
Sky Zone Durham will open to the public on Saturday.
