Holiday fun

North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival - Head to Booth Amphitheatre in Cary for this celebration of lights. The festival kicks off Friday and runs through Jan. 14.

Christmas Carousel Gift Market - The Triangle’s largest marketplace for arts and crafts returns to the N.C. State Fairgrounds this weekend. There will be more than 250 exhibitors from all across the southeast, showcasing thousands of one-of-a-kind items and unique gifts.
A Dickens Holiday - Historic Downtown Fayetteville will be transformed into a Victorian-era experience on Friday. Enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides down Hay Street, see Ebenezer Scrooge and end the evening with fireworks.
Rudolph the Musical - The beloved TV classic soars off the screen and onto the stage this holiday season at Fletcher Opera Theater in Raleigh. See the show Friday through Dec. 22.

A Motown Christmas - This show stars The Motown Experience, a world class vocal group comprised of past and present members of Motown's most legendary groups including The Temptations, The Miracles and The Capitols. See them Friday at Carolina Theatre of Durham.
Hip Hop Nutcracker - A holiday mash-up for the entire family, this is a contemporary re-imagination of Tchaikovsky’s timeless music.There are two shows on Friday at DPAC.

An Evening with Scrooge and Marley - Enjoy an evening of laughter and memories as two beloved actors, David Henderson and Ira David Wood III, share stories of their years with A Christmas Carol, "one of the most successful shows in North Carolina theatre history." See them Saturday night at Theatre in the Park.
Brian Setzer Orchestra - The iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and three-time Grammy-Award winner and his 19-piece orchestra will bring their 14th annual “Christmas Rocks! Tour" to DPAC Sunday.

Black Friday Hangover Brunch - Big Boss Brewing holds this event Friday starting at 11:30 a.m. They will be releasing Aces and Ates 2017, and a food truck will serve brunch.

Black Friday Garage Sale at Flying Saucer - Shop everything beer-related on Friday starting at 1 p.m. The restaurant and bar will be selling all past glasses, merchandise and swag.

The Goonies - See this 1980s classic Friday night at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Prior to the film, check out movie-themed science stations, where visitors can discover how famous pirates plundered the North Carolina shore from Cape Fear to Currituck, or learn about the science behind sea monsters, mythical creatures, pirates, treasure maps, pirate navigation and much more. After the movie, hear from a guest speaker to find out what “The Goonies” got right or wrong, scientifically speaking. Tickets are $5 per person.
Biz Markie 80s vs 90s - Biz will be spinning songs from 1980s and 1990s at The Ritz on Friday.

The Love Language - It is the band's first show in the Triangle in more than a year. See them Saturday night at Kings.
Seether - The rock band plays The Ritz Sunday night.
Thorward Progress - Head to Whitaker and Atlantic on Saturday for this special cocktail party benefiting the continued therapy efforts of Raleigh chef and restaurateur Michael Thor, who suffered a devastating spinal cord injury when he was hit by a car almost two years ago leaving him and his family the burden of long term out of pocket therapy and medical expenses. There will be delicious food and drink from Triangle area chefs and mixologists. Tickets are $75.
