Weekend bets bets: St. Paddy's Day parties, Oak City Comicon

Raleigh, N.C. — Between St. Patrick's Day and other fun events, like a Stevie Nicks concert at PNC Arena or Comicon in downtown Raleigh, there's plenty to do in the Triangle this weekend.
Here are our picks.

St. Patrick's Day Shenanigans - Tir na Nog in downtown Raleigh will team up with sister-pub London Bridge to host this party starting at 11 a.m. on Friday. Expect food, Irish musicians and dance and more. Admission is free.
St. Patrick's Day Bar Crawl - NC Event Pics will be hosting this event Friday night in downtown Raleigh. Things kick off at The Anchor Bar, and then you'll head to more than six area hot spots. Tickets are $20.
Glenwood South Goes Green - Head to Glenwood South Friday night for a celebration starting at 6 p.m. Admission is free and there will be food and drinks for purchase.
West 94th Street Pub - This Durham pub will be hosting live music, karaoke and more fun on Friday.
St. Paddy's Day Block Party - The Milk Bar will be hosting this party on Saturday. There will be live music, food trucks, beer and bar tents, games and artists.
St. Patrick's Day Extravaganza - Motorco will be celebrating Friday night with lots of live music.
James Joyce Irish Pub - This Durham pub will have bagpipers Friday afternoon and live music all weekend.
Shamrock Shuck - Oak City Brewing will host this St. Patrick's Day party and oyster roast on Saturday. There will be food trucks, live music and oysters.
Glenwood South St. Baldrick's event - Head to Raleigh Beer Garden on Saturday to help raise money to fight childhood cancer. People will be shaving their heads for St. Baldrick's, and you can either shave or donate money to those who are going bald.
St. Baldrick's at White Street Brewing - This Wake Forest brewery will be hosting its St. Baldrick's event on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
Oak City Comicon - NC Comicon's first event of the year is this weekend at the Raleigh Convention Center. There will be exhibits, panels, workshops and a huge cosplay contest.
Pop-Up Raleigh - Downtown Raleigh's original monthly vintage market is Saturday at Trophy Brewing & Taproom on Maywood Avenue.
Hurricanes Homegrown Series - The Carolina Hurricanes continue their celebration of local art, music and food on Saturday night with music from Kasey Tyndall, beer from Lynwood Brewing and T-shirts designed by Runaway.
Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders - See the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" Stevie Nicks on stage at PNC Arena Sunday night. Also on the bill - the English-American rock band The Pretenders.
The Bodyguard - The award-winning musical based on the smash hit film plays Durham Performing Arts Center through Sunday. Grammy Award-nominee and R&B superstar Deborah Cox takes on the role made famous by Whitney Houston.
Ben Vereen and NC Symphony - Steppin' Out With Ben Vereen will feature a tribute to Broadway including "Corner of the Sky" from Pippin, "Defying Gravity" from Wicked, Frank Sinatra favorites like "My Way" and much more. See the show Friday and Saturday nights at Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh.
Sinbad - Ranked by Comedy Central as one of the "100 Greatest Standups of All Time," actor and comedian Sinbad has had audiences laughing for over three decades. See him Sunday night at Meymandi Concert Hall.
Dangling Loafer - This monthly local stand-up series is Friday night at Kings in downtown Raleigh. National headliner Tom Simmons will be performing as well as Blaire Postman, John Boni, Josh Rosenstein, Jay Stadler and Tank Smith.
Vanessa Carlton - The singer-songwriter will play Lincoln Theatre Friday night.
R. Kelly - Spend St. Patrick's Day with R. Kelly and Monica at PNC Arena Friday night.
Raleigh Blues Festival - This 10th annual event is Friday night at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Performers include Bishop Bullwinkle, Sir Charles Jones, Tucka, Lebrado and Theodis Ealey.
Beyonce BINGO - Head to the Durham Armory Saturday night for this event, which features an evening of music, a drag show and, of course, BINGO featuring some of Beyonce's hits.
