Weekend Best Bets: Tour de Fat, Pig Fest

DURHAM, N.C. — Here are our picks for what to do this weekend:

Tour de Fat - New Belgium Brewing's traveling celebration of all things bicycle rolls into Durham Saturday. The event kicks off at Diamond View Park at 11 a.m. with a costumed parade. There will be live music and, of course, beer. The fun runs until 5 p.m.

Durham Central Park Food Truck Rodeo - Bring dad to a food truck rodeo in Durham on Sunday. The fun is from noon to 4 p.m.

Peak City Pig Fest - Apex will host this fourth annual event on Friday and Saturday. The family festival will include 48 barbecue teams competing for the crown, in addition to live music, a beer garden and children's area. Admission is free but you will have to pay for food and beverages.

Fresh Catch Festival - Live music, craft beer, an art market and Caribbean-style seafood all highlight this year's festival in Moore Square in downtown Raleigh on Saturday. From 1 to 6 p.m., enjoy seafood, barbecue and more prepared by local chefs. There will be food trucks on hand from 5 to 9 p.m. Advance tickets are $8. That price goes up to $10 on the day-of the event. Children aged 12 years and younger are admitted free with an adult. All food and drink are sold separately inside.

Chef screening and food truck rodeo - The NC Museum of Art will host a special outdoor screening of the movie "Chef," which is about a chef who decides to reinvent himself by starting a food truck. The park opens at 7:30 p.m. with a food truck rodeo. The movie start at 9 p.m. Admission is free for museum members and $5 for non-members.

Juneteenth Celebration - On Saturday, this annual African-American community festival will feature live music, food, vendors and children's activities. This free festival runs from 1-10 p.m. in downtown Durham.

PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series - The classic "The Karate Kid" will be shown in City Plaza Friday night. Enjoy the free film on the a huge screen. Bring a blanket and enjoy food trucks, a DJ and beer tent.

International SUN-Day - Head to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Sunday for an afternoon of talks about solar superstorms, solar facts and more! It's all part of International SUN-Day!

Neko Case - The talented singer-songwriter will play the NC Museum of Art Friday night. Tickets start at $21.

Hozier at Red Hat - The Irish musician best known for his single "Take Me to Church" will play Red Hat Amphitheater Friday night. Tickets start at $29.

NC Symphony Summerfest - The symphony continues its Summerfest series this weekend at Koka Booth Amphitheatre. On Friday night, the symphony presents  "An Evening of Broadway." Saturday night's show will feature music inspired by the world of Harry Potter. Advance tickets for both shows start at $15.

4th Annual Father's Day Jazz Concert - The North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra, the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra and Trianlge Youth Jazz Ensemble will also perform during this event on Sunday at Sutton Theatre at Raleigh Little Theatre. The annual event honors Uncle Paul Montgomery. Tickets start at $7.

Midtown Bluegrass Series - Enjoy Father's Day at North Hills in Raleigh for the Midtown Bluegrass Series. Held at Midtown Park, this free event starts at 5 p.m. Sunday and will feature The Bankesters.

MacBeth - Raleigh Little Theatre presents one of Shakespeare's most notorious drama's under the stars. The show opens Friday night and runs this weekend and next. Tickets are $17.

A Few Good Men - The Broadway hit plays Duke Energy Center's Kennedy Theatre this weekend. It is based on the popular film.

Pilobolus - The quintet appears at DPAC this weekend as part of the American Dance Festival. Tickets start at $27.

Note: There is a special children's matinee of Pilobolus on Saturday at 1 p.m. Tickets for are $16. Following the show there will be a free party in the DPAC lobby, complete with live music, face-painting and more.
