RALEIGH, N.C. — Several festivals with food and beer, the Southern Women's Show and an appearance from Steve Martin make this a huge weekend in the Triangle.

For the foodies

Brewgaloo - Shop Local Raleigh presents this craft beer festival this weekend in downtown Raleigh. Things kick off on Friday night with a tasting sampler event. Tickets are $45 for that event. On Saturday there will be an open street festival from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. You can purchase beer by the glass or taste.
Chatham Street Chowdown - The Town of Cary hosts this food truck rally on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Chatham St. between Harrison Avenue and Walker Street. There will be more than 25 food trucks, music, wine and craft beer.
Great Grapes: Wine and Food Festival - Enjoy sampling hundreds of wine at this festival at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Saturday. There will also be food, arts and crafts and live music. Tickets are still available.
BearthDay - Raleigh City Farm celebrates Earth Day on Saturday with a day-long celebration including a free, family-friendly bazaar, farm tours, entertainment, local vendors and more.

Taste 2017

Taste 2017 - This foodie festival kicks off Thursday and runs through Sunday in the Durham and Chapel Hill area. Here's a rundown of events.
Some Taste highlights:
Grand Taste Experience - Spend the evening with hundreds of guests savoring tastes of dishes created by 30 of the best chefs in our local area Thursday night at the Rickhouse in Durham.
Petit herbed chicken and almond salad croissant from the Weathervane Restaurant
Regional Taste Experience - More than 40 southern regional and local chefs, artisans, restaurants, distilleries and beverage purveyors will be on hand for this event on Saturday at Durham Armory.
Ultimate Gluten Free Dinner - Primal Food & Spirits will be the site of Taste's first ever gluten-free event. There will be three courses, including cider pairings, and some great gluten free dessert. It happens Friday night.
Wine vs. Beer - It’s time to settle the score once and for all, and there is no better place to have this competition than in the confines of the PNC VIP Club at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday. Get ready for five innings of small plate pairings crafted by creative local chefs. It is up for you to decide if Wine or Beer pair better with each of these offerings.
Tacos y Tequila Night
Tacos and Tequila - This festive event on Saturday will provide you with an evening full of sweet and savory delights, Mexican style. The ever diverse and talented Charlie Deal of Dos Perros, JuJu and Jujube restaurants will create six different types of tacos for you to sample along with sips of six different and unexpected flavors of Tequila.
Salt and Smoke - TASTE 2017 honors Kevin Callaghan, acclaimed chef/owner of Acme (Carrboro, NC), and the originator of Salt & Smoke, a traveling festival of real southern food and music. It will be a casual celebration of barbecue, oysters, beer, music and authentic delicious southern foods at The Rickhouse on Sunday.

Locally Made Market - This pop-up artisan market is Sunday at the Loading Dock in Raleigh. More than 20 talented local artists will be selling goods. Admission is free.
Record Store Day - Schoolkids Records will celebrate the 10th annual Record Store Day with live music and more fun on Saturday.

On stage

Steve Martin and Martin Short - The two comedians bring their "An Evening You Will Forget the Rest of Your Life" show to DPAC Thursday and Friday. They will be joined by the Grammy Award winning bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers. Audiences can expect an evening of laughs as the duo recall their iconic careers, creative influences and most memorable encounters, uniquely presented though a blend of stand-up, musical numbers and conversations about their lives in show business.
Steve Martin receives the International Bluegrass Music's Distinguished Achievement Award in Raleigh on Oct. 1, 2015.
Women's Empowerment - Taraji P. Henson, star of Fox's Empire, will be the keynote speaker at this women's event at PNC Arena on Saturday. What started as a networking expo in 1995 has grown into a day of workshops, seminars and music. Other performers appearing on Saturday include Bobby Brown and Cece Winans.
Dangling Loafer - This monthly local comedy series is Friday night at Kings in downtown Raleigh. This month features Blayr Nias, Shane Smith, Brian Deans and more.
Carolina Ballet: Rhapsody in Blue - George Gershwin's epic American masterwork will transport you to a world envisioned by Carolina Ballet's Choreographer in Residence, Zalman Raffael, as he explores Gershwin's ever-changing rhythms and moods in this deftly sensitive ballet. See it Thursday through Saturday at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.
Carolina Ballet Presents Rhapsody in Blue
Cary Music and Arts Festival - This festival showcases the talent of band, chorus and visual arts students from Cary area high schools, including Athens High, Green Hope High, Cary Academy, Cardinal Gibbons High, Cary High, Middle Creek and Triangle Youth Symphony. While Sunday's concert at Booth Amphitheatre is free, there is a $5 suggested donation.
Jonny Lang - The singer, songwriter will play Lincoln Theatre on Friday night.
Brian Regan - A regular on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Regan brings his stand-up tour to DPAC Saturday night.
Brit Floyd - Brit Floyd brings the music of Pink Floyd to life once again with its lavish new stage show, "Immersion World Tour 2017." See them Sunday night at DPAC.

Southern Women's Show - Laurie Hernandez, Olympic gold medalist and winner of Dancing With the Stars, and Keegan Allen, popular TV star from Freeform's Pretty Little Liars, are among the celebrity guests attending this year's Southern Women's Show at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. Attendees can also enjoy shopping, fashion shows, DIY workshops, games, giveaways and a Dancing Like the Stars competition featuring WRAL reporter Amanda Lamb.

The show runs Friday through Sunday.

Help others

Music for Me Fine - Enjoy acoustic entertainment from BJ Barham of the internationally-acclaimed group American Aquarium Friday night at All Saints Chapel in Raleigh. There will be food from Empire Eats as well as beer and wine. Tickets are $80, and all ticket sales go to the Me Fine Foundation, which helps critically ill children at UNC and Duke Children's Hospitals.
Socks and Undies 5K Rundie - It may have a humorous name, but this run addresses a serious need: clothing for homeless and impoverished school-aged children. The Saturday run/walk fundraiser at Dorothea Dix Campus, hosted by Note in the Pocket, encourages participants to donate a new pack of socks and/or underwear. Children 12 and under can register for the 8:30 a.m. 1/2K Rundie, where costumes are encouraged.

St. Baldrick's at Lonerider Brewing - Shave your head or donate money to others who are going bald to help support the childhood cancer organization.
