Weekend best bets: St. Patrick's Day festivities, Garth Brooks

— With St. Patrick's Day coming up next week, we have a few holiday-related events on tap for this weekend.

St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival - The parade will run through downtown Raleigh on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. After the parade, there will be a festival featuring live music, rides, face-painting and vendors in City Plaza. Admission is free.

Glenwood South - Head to Glenwood Avenue for this St. Patrick's Day celebration starting at noon Saturday. Festivities will happen in the 600 block of Glenwood and in the field behind Raleigh Beer Garden. There will be live music, food, drink and vendors. Entry is $5 at the Raleigh Beer Garden's field. Glenwood’s street party is free to attend.

Garth Brooks - The country superstar will play three nights at PNC Arena. The shows, which also feature his wife, Trisha Yearwood, start Friday night. Tickets are still available.

Cee-Lo Green - The Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter and producer plays Lincoln Theatre Sunday night. Tickets start at $29.

Chris Mann - You might remember this classically trained singer from NBC's "The Voice." Since then, he has been writing pop songs and appearing on stage in national Broadway tours. His shows feature a mix of big band, Broadway and pop music. See him Sunday evening at Carolina Theatre of Durham.

Raleigh Blues Festival - See this 9th annual festival at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium Saturday starting at 7 p.m. Performers include Sir Charles Jones, Pokey Bear, Theodis Easley, Nelson Curry and the Klass Band. Tickets start at $51.

X Ambassadors - The alternative rock band has a radio hit now with "Renegades." See them at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro on Sunday. Tickets are $20.

For the Foodies

Durham Food Truck Rodeo - Durham Central Park will host a food truck rodeo Sunday starting at noon. There will be tons of trucks and live music. Admission is free.

Downtown Cary Food and Flea - Enjoy craft beer, food trucks and art at this month's event at Ashworth Village in downtown Cary on Sunday. Admission is free. The event runs noon to 4 p.m.

Help others and have fun

Triangle BubbleBall Fundraiser - Triangle BubbleBall has teamed with the U.S. Bubble Soccer Association and AliveAndKickn, a national cancer charity, to offer an afternoon of bubbleball fun at D1 Sports Training in Raleigh Saturday. Mixing soccer, sumo, and dodgeball, BubbleBall is full-contact fun that combines a great cardio workout with lots of laughs. Admission is a $25 donation.

Sola Hot Mini 5K - This third annual run/walk helps raise money for the U.S. Military Veteran's Foundation. The event is Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Sola Coffee in north Raleigh. Admission is $30 in advance and $35 on race day.

St. Baldrick's - There will be a St. Baldrick's event at White Street Brewing in Wake Forest on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. These events help raise money to help fight children's cancers.

Rock, Paper and Scissors Showdown and Trivia Challenge - In its fifth year, the event has changed format and venue. Play some RPS and win some cool prizes starting at 3 p.m. Saturday at Raleigh Brewing Company. General admission tickets are $10. All proceeds benefit Learning Together, an inclusive early childhood education center.
