The North Carolina State Fair wraps up this weekend, so make sure to head out there for some deep fried fun.

Spooky fun

Midtown Pumpkin Palooza - The Midtown Raleigh Alliance hosts this fall festival fundraiser with a chili cook-off, smart phone scavenger hunt, adult trivia, food trucks, a beer garden and more. The fun starts at 4 p.m. at Midtown Park.
Haunted Trolley - Get a special late night tour of downtown Raleigh's most haunted places on this trolley on Friday night. The trolley departs from Mordecai Historic Park. Advanced registration is recommended.
Durham Symphony Orchestra's 3rd Annual Halloween Spooktacular - Durham Symphony Orchestra returns to Northgate Mall on Sunday for their 3rd Annual Halloween Spooktacular featuring Paperhand Puppets Intervention. This free event offers fun for the whole family such as live symphonic music from Maestro William Curry and the Durham Symphony Orchestra, Paperhand Puppets Intervention puppet show, costume contest, local food trucks, wine and beer, children's activities and much more.

Pumpkins in the Plaza - The folks at 140 West Franklin in Chapel Hill are enjoying Halloween a little early with Halloween crafts and games, a costume contest, trick or treating up and down Franklin Street and music by Spookcase. It all starts at 6 p.m. Friday.
Trick or Eat Food Truck Rodeo - Head to downtown Garner on Sunday for this food truck rodeo. There won't be any trick or treating, but there will be 14 trucks serving up delicious food and beer from three breweries.

A Place at the Table fundraising pop-up at Trophy Brewing - A Place at the Table is popping up at Trophy on Maywood Avenue Saturday starting at 5 p.m. Phonomenal Dumpling Truck, Qspresso Food Truck and Sweet Stacey's Cupcakes will be on hand. There will also be games, auction items and raffle prizes.

Pints for a Purpose - Join Trophy Brewing Company and Meals on Wheels of Wake County for Pints for a Purpose on Sunday. This free event runs 1 to 4 p.m. and includes music from Momma Molasses, cornhole, raffles and more. The first 40 people to come will also get a free beer!
DTR Howl-O-Ween Pup Crawl - Crawl to four downtown Raleigh pubs on Saturday afternoon in support of Cause for Paws of North Carolina. Sponsored by Unleashed and Nina's Paws & Purrs, CFP's Howl-O-Ween Pup Crawl invites those with furry family members, and those who may be looking for one, to dress up, drink for the cause and have a howling good time. After registering at Boxcar Bar and Arcade, other stops include Isaac Hunter's Tavern, Coglin's, and Paddy O'Beers. A portion of the day's proceeds go to CFP's medical fund.
BeagleFest - Triangle Beagle Rescue presents BeagleFest 2016, a family- and dog-friendly event with food, games, raffles, contests and vendors at the Sunny Acres Pet Resort in Durham on Saturday. Tickets are $5 per person; dogs and kids under 5 years old are admitted free.
Knightdale's Dogtoberfest - Another pet friendly event this weekend. There will be a K9 fun run/walk, dog costume contest and pet adoptions at Knightdale Station Park starting at noon Saturday.
Light the Night - The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society holds this annual walk on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Cary's Booth Amphitheater. Light The Night is a community celebration of music, entertainment and camaraderie among participants and survivors gathering to celebrate their fundraising success and demonstrate their support in the fight against blood cancers.
AIDS Walk and 5K Run - Help raise money for HIV and AIDS education and support at this 16th annual event on Saturday. The run/walk starts at Dorthea Dix Campus starting at 9 a.m.
Paint it Pink Gala - Enjoy a night of drinking and dancing to help raise money for 1in9, a local breast cancer non-profit that gives support to NC women battling the disease. The benefit will be a pink night of fun and fundraising at The Stockroom at 230 on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh on Friday. Each ticket includes appetizers, dessert and two drink tickets for beer or wine.

On stage

The Dangling Loafer - Eric Trundy headlines this monthly local comedy showcase at Kings on Friday night. He will be joined by 2015’s Carolina’s Funniest Comedian Chad Cosby, Leo Hodson, Kenyon Adamcik, Shari Diaz, Jared Boynton, Adam Cohen and Shane Smith. Tickets are $5.

Carolina Ballet's Don Quixote - The tarnished knight, Don Quixote, and his loyal sidekick Sancho Panza bring scenes of love and battles with windmills to the stage, leaving the audience filled with humor and pathos. See it at Fletcher Opera Theater through Oct. 30.
Ed Stephen and the Paco Band - Ed Stephen and the Paco Band will be performing live at the North Carolina Museum of Art Friday night. Small plates and beverages, including wine, beer, and nonalcoholic options, are available for purchase.
Chris Robinson Brotherhood - The former Black Crowes lead singer will be bring his new band to Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh Sunday night.
Alabama
Alabama and Charlie Daniels - After being postponed due to Hurricane Matthew, you can see these two bands on stage Sunday night at Koka Booth Amphitheatre.

For the foodies

Cooks and Books with Vivian Howard - Head to Pittsboro's Roost Beer Garden on Friday to help celebrate Vivian Howard's newest cookbook, Deep Run Roots. Tickets are $55 per person, including a copy of Deep Run Roots, a sandwich and beverage from Vivian's food truck, service fee and tax.
Oyster Roast with Fullsteam Brewery - Triangle Seafood teams up with Fullsteam for an oyster roast and brewery pairing Saturday night. Tickets are $40.

Oak and Smoke - Oak City Brewing Company hosts this event on Saturday starting at noon. Enjoy barbecue, bluegrass and great beer. Admission is $5.

Art and fashion

Mural Durham - See Durham artists in action and enjoy local food and music on Saturday at the Duke Arts Annex. Artists will be doing live graffiti and mural painting and local vendors, including Happy and Hale and Locopops will be providing free food.
Ponysaurus Brewing Company
Runaway Fall Release Party - After you enjoy the art, head to Ponysaurus Brewing to help Runaway showcase its fall collection. There will be live screen printing, SoomSoom food truck and live music. Ponysaurus will be celebrating its one year birthday with a Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout release.
