Weekend best bets: Halloween, Durham food truck rodeo

RALEIGH, N.C. — Lots to do this Halloween weekend. Here are our picks:

Halloween adult fun

CNL Halloween Crawl - Carolina Nightlife Raleigh will hold this crawl Saturday at Clouds Brewing. Enjoy games, drink specials and some great costumes. Tickets are $10 in advance and $20 the day-of. Promo code: Enter WRALHALLOWEEN when purchasing your tickets to receive a 25 percent discount your ticket. Code valid until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.

3 Ring Circus Masquerade Ball - Common 414 in downtown Raleigh hosts this event Saturday night featuring jugglers, acrobats, stilt-walkers and live music. Single tickets are $20 and couple tickets are $35.

Chapel Hill's Homegrown Halloween - There have been efforts to curtail the party on Franklin Street to only locals, but this is still one of the coolest places to enjoy Halloween in the Triangle. Thousands of costumed revelers roam the streets hitting local hot spots.

Murder Mystery Dinner - Oro in downtown Raleigh will host this event Saturday night. In addition to a delicious dinner, you also get to solve a mystery. Tickets are $75 a person and the event starts at 7:30 p.m.

Raleigh Boogeyman Bar Crawl - This bar crawl boasts $500 in cash prizes for the best costumes. The party starts at 5 p.m. Saturday at Mirage and continues throughout the night. Registration is $35 before noon Friday. Admission is $40 cash only at the door the day of.

Scrarecrow Festival - Pullen Art Center will host this festival Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. People will have a chance to build their own scarecrows. Space is limited to build scarecrows so call ahead to reserve your spot.

Boos and Brews - The Midtown Farmers Market at North Hills will host Halloween-themed activities from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be face painting, craft beer tastings, pumpkin decorating and bowling and more.

Hocus Pocus - Lafayette Village closes out its free Movies on the Green series Friday night with a free screening of "Hocus Pocus." The show starts at 7 p.m.

Doggie Halloween - Unleashed in City Market in downtown Raleigh will hold a free Halloween party for pets starting at 5 p.m. Saturday.There will be pumpkin carving, carnival games and a pet costume contest.

Carrboro Halloween Carnival - This free celebration in Carrboro Town Commons is 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will include carnival style activities.

Mall trick or treat - Malls are also opening for the trick-or-treaters. Go Ask Mom has a list.

NC Central Homecoming - Two nights of music at DPAC to celebrate homecoming. On Friday night, Faith Evans and Mase perform. The following night, Big Sean is joined by Rich Homie Quan, Rapsody and Roland Champaine.

Howl-O-Ween Harvest Ball - Head to City Limits Saturday night for some great country music. This year's Harvest Ball headliners are Hunter Hayes, Chase Bryant, Chris Lane, and Mo Pitney. Tickets are $15 in advance.

Halloween at Hogwarts - The North Carolina Symphony will perform the Music of Harry Potter Friday and Saturday nights at Meymandi Concert Hall. Tickets start at $25.

Durham Central Park Food Truck Rodeo - Check out this rodeo Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. There will be more than 50 trucks on hand.

Día De Los Muertos Festival - Mesa Latin Kitchen in Durham will host this festival on Sunday starting at noon. The event will include food and music. Tickets are $17 for adults and $10 for children.

D. L. Hughley - One of the Original Kings of Comedy, Hughley will be playing Goodnights Thursday through Saturday.

A Shopping Spree - Get a jump on that holiday shopping or just buy stuff for yourself at this event presented by Junior League of Raleigh. The event runs Thursday through Sunday at Raleigh Convention Center. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

Competition Dining - The Got to Be NC Competition Dining: Battle of the Champions crowns a winner Saturday night. Battles are almost all sold out for this week's dinners held at the Renaissance Hotel in North Hills.

Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Leicester and the Power of Observation - This exhibit opens Saturday at the North Carolina Museum of Art. It runs through January.

City of Oaks Marathon - Thousands of runners will hit the streets of Raleigh Sunday morning as part of the annual City of Oaks Marathon and Rex Healthcare Half Marathon. There will also be a 10K, marathon relays and a children's marathon mile. The race will cause some road closures.
