Weekend Best Bets: Grill-Off, Jingle in July

Live music

Tim McGraw - The country superstar is playing Walnut Creek Amphitheatre on Friday night. He will be joined by Billy Currington and Chase Bryant. Tickets start at $32.

Kid Rock - Kid Rock brings his Cheap Date Tour to Walnut Creek Saturday night with special guests Foreigner. Tickets are $20.

R5 - Pop-rock quintet R5 play Raleigh Memorial Auditorium Saturday night. Tickets start at $27 and go up to $42.

NC Local Music 8th Anniversary - Featuring Kurtzweil, Spaceship Days, Enemy in Disguise, Spiralfire and Zak Domogalia at Deep South the Bar. Tickets are $8.

Blu-Bop - The Triangle-based seven piece ensemble will pay tribute to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones during a show Saturday night at Sertoma Amphitheatre at Cary's Bond Park. The show is free.

Jingle in July - The Capital City Clauses hold this 4th annual event at City Limits Saturday night. It will feature food and dessert trucks, bull-riding, drinks and more! Advance tickets are $9. At the door it is $10 cash to get in or just bring a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10.

For the foodies

Grill Off competition - West 94th St. Pub holds its 2nd annual Grill-Off Competition on Saturday to help raise money for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Each contestant will be making two to three whole chickens! Public tasting will begin at 2 p.m.

Pork, Pickles and Peanuts: Tastes of NC - The state's food history and heritage take center stage at this festival at Duke Homestead. There will be a barbecue cook-off and pie competition, in addition to live music.

Downtown Cary Food and Flea - This multi-cultural market will be held in downtown Cary on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Look for food, crafts, music and more!

Wake Forest Food Truck Rodeo - On Sunday, more than 20 of your favorite food trucks will be gathering in Wake Forest for a rodeo from noon to 4 p.m. in the Over the Falls Shopping Center off of White Street.

NeighBREWhood Party - Raleigh Brewing is holding a special NeighBREWhood Party from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday. There will be three food trucks, live bluegrass music, giveaways and more! Admission is free.

More events

Carolina Hurricanes Summerfest - This free celebration at PNC Arena includes autograph sessions and more fun. The event kicks off at 10 a.m.

Dreamgirls - Theatre Raleigh's Hot Summer Nights Series continues with "Dreamgirls" at Kennedy Theatre this weekend. Tickets start at $27.

9 to 5: The Musical - This show based on the film runs this month at the North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre. Tickets start at $12.

Second Sunday City mARTket Fair - Artsplosure is bringing this monthly art market to City Market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Look for unique crafts, jewelry, woodworking ad more.
