Weekend best bets: Brewgaloo, Dogwood Festival

RALEIGH, N.C. — Craft beer, family fun and live music highlight our picks for this weekend in the Triangle-area.

Brewgaloo - The North Carolina craft beer festival celebrates its fifth anniversary this weekend. First up, there will be a block party sampler event in City Plaza Friday evening. Tickets are $45 and a limited number are available. Some of the sample size pours available will be beers that won't be available during Saturdays main event. Saturday's main Brewgaloo event runs 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fayetteville Street. There will be food trucks and live music. Admission is free. Beer samples and food will cost you.

Fayetteville Dogwood Festival - Carnival rides, food vendors, live entertainment, inflatable/bounce houses, arts and crafts, a classic car show and more highlight this annual event. This year's concert headliners include The LACS, Chris Janson, Jack Russell's Great White, Cinderella's Tom Keifer, The Crooners, and RadioBoXx. The concerts are free, but some of the activities may charge a fee. The festival runs Friday through Sunday.

Southern Women's Show - Shopping, seminars and celebrities highlight this annual event at the N.C. State Fairgrounds this weekend. Guests this year include Stephen “tWitch” Boss from the Ellen DeGeneres Show and So You Think You Can Dance, as well as Whitney Way Thore from TLC network’s My Big Fat Fabulous Life. Some of the stars from "Days of Our Lives" will be there on Friday.

Taste Family Picnic at Maple View Farm - Spend a family friendly day at this Hillsborough Farm. The Saturday picnic will include live music, hay rides, face painting, food and ice cream. Tickets are still available. This is part of the Taste 2016 event. Thursday's Grand Tasting and Friday's Italian dinner are both sold out.

Hook and Vine Seafood Festival - This third annual festival is noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Wine Feed in downtown Raleigh. This year's event will focus on pairing fresh seafood with high-quality wines found from around the world. Featured restaurants include Centro, Capital Club 16, Provenance, Plates Neighborhood Kitchen and Boiler Room Oyster Bar.

Great Grapes - Head to Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Saturday for this food and wine festival. VIP tickets are $49 in advance and $55 the day of. General admission and designated driver tickets are also available.

Bucket Bash - This second annual event helps cancer patients fulfill lifelong dreams. The event includes a chef-inspired dinner menu, dancing, drinks and an auction. New to this year's bash, four local chefs will compete in a Chef Cook Off to create their best appetizer using one common ingredient. It all happens Saturday at The Chef's Academy.

Time Warp - Head to the City of Raleigh Museum Saturday night for the annual Time Warp party. This year, the theme is 1950s so break out those poodle skirts and leather jackets for a night of auctions, food, drinks and dancing. Tickets start at $65.

Martin Lawrence - The actor and comedian brings his "Doin' Time: Uncut Live" tour to PNC Arena Friday night. Tickets start at $44.

Jim Breuer - The SNL alum plays Goodnights Comedy Club in Raleigh Thursday through Saturday.

Me Fine Concert - The Me Fine Foundation holds its first Spring Benefit Concert Friday night featuring Old Habits and The Remedy. The show is at All Saints Chapel. All proceeds go to the Me Fine Foundation, which provides vital financial assistance and emotional support programs to critically ill children being treated by local children's hospitals and their families.

Cabaret - Celebrating its 50th anniversary season, the Broadway staple runs at DPAC through Sunday.

Cary Music and Arts Festival - This event showcases the talent of band, chorus and visual arts students from Cary area high schools, including Cary High, Athens High, and Green Hope High. See them Sunday at Koka Booth Amphitheatre. The show is free but donations for area art programs will be accepted.
