Weekend best bets: Big Boss Anniversary, Sip-n-Shop

There are several Christmas parades in and around the Triangle as well as some great shows, distinct holiday markets and plenty of events for beer lovers.

Big Boss 10th Anniversary Bottle Release & Party
RALEIGH, N.C. — There are several Christmas parades in and around the Triangle this weekend as well as some great shows, distinct holiday markets and plenty of events for beer lovers.

Beer and food

Big Boss 10th Anniversary - Help this Raleigh brewery celebrate a decade in business on Saturday starting at noon. They will be releasing their 10th anniversary beer in addition to some unique beer releases every hour at their downstairs taproom. In addition to great beer, enjoy some unique swag, food trucks and a pop-up market. Donations will be accepted for Toys for Tots and the Catfish Hunter ALS Foundation.
Mystery Brewing Winter Beer Release/Bake-Off - Head over to this Hillsborough brewery on Sunday for the release of its winter beers and to take part in its third annual holiday bake-off. All baked goods must include one of Mystery's four winter beers.
PourWorks Grand Opening Sneak Peek - This craft beer and wine shop isn't ready to open officially, but they are willing to provide folks with a sneak peek on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. There will be complimentary beer and wine, music, games and raffles.
Full Steam Symphony - The Blind Pig Supper Club in collaboration with Full Steam Brewing Company will present this event Saturday night celebrating the creativity of music and supporting Kidz Notes. Enjoy a seven course menu prepared by a collection of local chefs. Tickets are $75.

Drinking and shopping

Raleigh Brewing's Sip-N-Shop - There will be a collection of local crafts and vendors at Raleigh Brewing on Saturday starting at noon. Shop and enjoy selections from the more than 20 taps the Raleigh brewery will be flowing. There will also be pet photos with Santa.
Chatham Street Wine Market Pop-Up Market - Stop by Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. to taste and buy some of the best local specialty food around. Some great local winemakers will be pouring free tastes starting at 1 p.m.
Downtown Cary Food & Flea
Downtown Cary Food and Flea - The final food and flea event of the year is Sunday at Ashworth Village in downtown Cary. Enjoy music, food trucks, craft beer and a great local market from noon to 4 p.m.
Handmade Holiday Gifts Workshop - Head to the Scrap Exchange in Durham for an afternoon of crafty gift making. Participants of all ages and skill levels can make a variety of handmade gifts for family and friends from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Nappy Roots - See this iconic hip hop band at the Pour House Saturday night.

Jeanne Jolly and The Mistletoes - The Raleigh singer-songwriter will be spreading holiday cheer with her five-piece band Friday night at Southland Ballroom.
Jamie Lee - The comedian and cast member of MTV's "Girl Code" will play Goodnights Comedy Club this weekend.
Pink Martini - This cocktail, jazz and pop ensemble delivers a festive holiday concert featuring beloved songs from around the globe on Friday and Saturday at Meymandi Concert Hall.

Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour - Take a walk through the past this weekend as 13 properties in the Historic Oakwood neighborhood open their doors to visitors during the 45th Annual Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour. Tickets are available in advance.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical - The beloved TV classic gets the musical treatment this holiday season. See it through Christmas Eve at Fletcher Opera Theater.
Carolina Ballet's The Nutcracker runs at DPAC Dec. 9-10 and at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium Dec. 15-24. Courtesy: Carolina Ballet
Carolina Ballet's The Nutcracker - Carolina Ballet performs Tchaikovsky's holiday classic, The Nutcracker, for the 15th year. Shows are at DPAC this weekend.
Theatre in the Park's A Christmas Carol - Ira David Wood III's beloved musical comedy celebrates its 42nd Anniversary this year. See it this weekend at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.
Audiences enjoy the sighs and sounds of "A Christmas Carol," which is celebrating its 40th year in Raleigh.
The Santaland Diaries - Crumpet the Elf relives his tale of his brief stint working at Macy's "Santaland" attraction in New York City in this Theatre in the Park production. Dates run through Dec. 17, and the show is intended for mature audiences only.
Jolly Elf Trail Run - Burn some holiday calories on Saturday morning at this event at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. There will be a 5K run, a 1.25 mile fun run and children's dash.
Enloe High School Charity Ball - Every year, students at Enloe High School host a Charity Ball in honor of a local nonprofit. This year's 12th annual Charity Ball, planned Saturday at Marbles Kid's Museum, will honor Urban Ministries. This event has sold out.

Holiday Parades

Cary Jaycees Christmas Parade - For the past 36 years, the Cary Jaycees have sponsored this annual parade in downtown Cary. The parade starts at 2 p.m. Saturday, but the route is a little different. The parade will start at the same location, the corner of Ward and Chatham, but instead of turning left on Academy, it will continue straight on Chatham, ending at the intersection of Chatham and West streets.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade - This parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday on East Franklin Street. It will end at Carrboro Town Hall.
Wake Forest Christmas Parade - The town will celebrate its parade on Saturday with more than 100 floats and entries from local businesses and schools. The parade runs through downtown Wake Forest and starts at 1 p.m.
Durham, which has deferred to the big parade in Raleigh and smaller community celebrations is back on the calendar this year with a parade down Main Street on Saturday morning. Downtown parking garages will waive parking fees on the day of the event.
