Weekend Best Bets: Band Together, Raleigh Typhoon

RALEIGH, N.C.Band Together - A great concert for an important cause - Band Together NC holds its main event Saturday night at Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh. This year, Michael Franti and Spearhead will headline the show. Big Sam's Funky Nation, Elliott Root and Fat Creek Kat will also perform. Proceeds benefit Band Together and its nonprofit partner this year, StepUp Ministry. General admission tickets start at $20.

More music:

NC Symphony - The symphony continues its Summerfest on Saturday with the "Music of the Eagles." Advance tickets start at $15. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. at Koka Booth Amphitheatre.
Waka Flocka Flame - The Atlanta rapper will be taking the stage at Lincoln Theatre Saturday night. Tickets start at $25.

Outside the Box:

Raleigh Typhoon - This scavenger hunt and urban adventure is Saturday in downtown Raleigh. There will be two games this year - an extreme challenge and pub crawl. TEams will be tackling hilarious games and solving puzzles will visiting some popular downtown Raleigh locations. People can compete as an individual or a team. Everything kicks off at 11 a.m. with the extreme challenge at Tir na Nog. That event runs from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The pub crawl is 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Downtown Raleigh Movie Series - The Downtown Raleigh Movie Series comes to a close this Friday night in City Plaza with a screening of "The King of Kong: A Fist Full of Quarters."
Repticon - Fans of reptiles and exotic animals should head to the N.C. State Fairgrounds this weekend for Repticon Raleigh. The event will feature pets, supplies, cages and more. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 5 years and older. Those under 5 years old are admitted free.

For the foodies:

The Spirited Pig Summer Shindig - This bourbon, beer and barbecue event is Saturday at Carolina Ale House on Glenwood Avenue in Downtown Raleigh. From noon to 4 p.m., enjoy three food and bourbon stations and a souvenir tasting glass. Tickets are $30. Ten percent of ticket sales will be donated to the Helping Hand Mission of Raleigh.
Draft Line Brewing celebration - This Fuquay-Varina brewery will be celebrating one year in business on Saturday with food trucks, live music and releases of small batch beers. Admission is free. The party starts at noon.
Raleigh Food and Wine Festival - There are a series of dinners, tastings and more happening at restaurants throughout Raleigh during this four-day event. The highlight is a "grand tasting" type event at Babylon on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. featuring local chefs. Tickets are $29 for one, but if you buy two the price goes down to $24 a ticket - so grab a friend and check it out.

On stage:

A Few Good Men - The Broadway hit "A Few Good Men" wraps up its run at the Duke Energy Center's Kennedy Theatre this weekend. The show is based on the popular film. Tickets are $27.
MacBeth - One of Shakespeare's most notorious dramas, will be performed under the stars at Raleigh Little Theatre this weekend. Tickets are $17.
