Weekend best bets: African American Cultural Fest, Durham Food Truck Rodeo

RALEIGH, N.C.First Friday - It's First Friday in downtown Raleigh and we have your guide to the fun. Our best bets include BREW Coffee Bar's one year birthday bash.

Festivals and foodie fun:

African American Culture Festival - This two-day family-friendly festival starts Saturday in downtown Raleigh's City Plaza. There will be food, live performances and vendors. Arrested Development will headlined Saturday, with Avery Sunshine playing Sunday. WRAL is a proud sponsor of this event.
Taste of the New South Food and Wine Weekend - Pinehurst Resort hosts this event that includes an oyster roast and pig pickin'. Events start on Friday.
Raleigh Seafood Festival - This family friendly two-day event will be held this weekend in Pullen Park in Raleigh. It includes vendors, live, local bands, arts and crafts exhibits and more. There will be the signature Southeast Crab Feast "All You Can Eat" Blue Crabs eating sessions. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 the day of.
Aviator Brewing OktoberBeast Release - Fall is here and this Fuquay-Varina brewery is celebrating the release of its OktoberBeast with a party starting at noon Saturday. Food trucks will also be on hand.

Get outside and have some fun:

Durham Food Truck Rodeo - Durham Central Park will host a special Labor Day weekend food truck rodeo Sunday starting at noon. More than 50 trucks will be on hand.
Durham Bulls - The Bulls close out their regular season home games this weekend with a series against the Norfolk Tides.
Guardians of the Galaxy - Enjoy an outdoor screening of this film at the N.C. Museum of Art Saturday night. Tickets are $5 for non-museum members.

Live music:

Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire - See these iconic bands Friday night at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh.
Jason Aldean - The country singer plays Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh Saturday night. Tickets start at $40.
Rick Springfield - The singer joins The Romantics and Loverboy for a concert Friday night at Red Hat Amphitheatre in Raleigh.
Labor Day Music Festival - Head to Rock Quarry Park in Durham for this outdoor music festival on Saturday. Tickets are $30 each.

On Stage:

Spamalot - Raleigh Little Theatre presents this production of the Monty Python classic this weekend. Tickets for weekend shows are $27.
Cirque Italia - This circus is billing itself as the first "water circus." Shows are this weekend in the tent outside of International Foods Plaza off of Olympia Drive in Raleigh. Tickets start at $10.
Jim Jeffries - The comic plays Carolina Theatre of Durham Friday night.
