Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — The House gave final approval to a bill that would let a state tax credit for the working poor expire, and a House committee passed legislation repealing the inheritance tax.
Meanwhile, the House also overwhelmingly approved stiffer penalties for people caught cooking methamphetamine, and a committee killed a bill that would have legalized medical marijuana in North Carolina. The same committee also approved legislation to make exposing female breasts in public illegal.
Finally, a Senate committee sent the so-called Possum Drop bill to the Senate floor for a Thursday vote.
