The House gave final approval to a bill that would let a state tax credit for the working poor expire, and a House committee passed legislation repealing the inheritance tax.

Meanwhile, the House also overwhelmingly approved stiffer penalties for people caught cooking methamphetamine, and a committee killed a bill that would have legalized medical marijuana in North Carolina. The same committee also approved legislation to make exposing female breasts in public illegal.

Finally, a Senate committee sent the so-called Possum Drop bill to the Senate floor for a Thursday vote.

Marinol...it's prescribable now. Some will argue that pill form is ludicrous due to the nature of the symptom it is trying to prevent (nausea) FYI Marinol is synthetic THC...not cannabis. Cannabis contains 100's of cannabanoids that are beneficial to many patients. Also, in this day and time we use edibles, vaporizers and thc extracts to medicate. Smoking cannabis will soon be a thing of the past. With these new methods your silly argument collapses.

"..let a state tax credit for the working poor expire" Poor get Poorer. "..repealing the inheritance tax" Rich get Richer. "..approved stiffer penalties for people caught cooking methamphetamine" Health issues such as drug addiction is still a crime. "..killed a bill that would have legalized medical marijuana" Health issues are still a crime. "..to make exposing female breasts in public illegal." And how many people did we put to work with this one?

Marinol...it's prescribable now. Some will argue that pill form is ludicrous due to the nature of the symptom it is trying to prevent (nausea). If that's the case...develop a brand to be used in a nebulizer. From a doctor's perspective, if nicotine is being actively prescribed by doctor's for appetite suppression or some other benefit. Do you think they'd prescribe it in a cigarette form, or some other means of safe consumption. Medical marijuana advocates just needs to be honest of their intent and see if it passes public muster.

Just tragic that our legislators find such "problems" with medical marijuana that its concept cannot even be debated outside a small committee. my coldest regards to the uneducated, politically fearfull men and women of the NC General Assembly.

So, once again, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.....
