Wednesday saw the Racial Justice Act, gutted in last year's legislative session, weakened further on the same day a Cumberland County jury decided to sentence a murder suspect to death.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wednesday saw the Racial Justice Act, gutted in last year's legislative session, weakened further on the same day a Cumberland County jury decided to sentence a murder suspect to death.

The House easily passed a Dix park compromise that promises to have a more rocky road in the Senate.

And both chambers will discuss tax reform on Thursday.
