RALEIGH, N.C. — The Senate gave key approval Wednesday to a bill that would clear out members of some state boards and commissions. A final vote in expected Thursday.

Meanwhile, House committees advanced a proposed constitutional amendment limiting eminent domain as well as a bill that could revive the Possum Drop as part of a New Year's Eve celebration in a mountain town.
