Wednesday Wrap: Blue heaven

The carpet in the House chamber was red, but most everything else was a light shade of blue Wednesday as the House and the Senate held a joint session to honor the UNC-Chapel Hill men's basketball team for winning the NCAA championship last month.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The carpet in the House chamber was red, but most everything else was a light shade of blue Wednesday as the House and the Senate held a joint session to honor the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill men's basketball team for winning the NCAA championship last month.

Legislative leaders had to limit the number of lawmakers who spoke during the event to ensure they weren't in session all afternoon, but lawmakers and Coach Roy Williams still managed to get some digs in against Duke University and North Carolina State University.

Gov. Roy Cooper hosted Williams and the team at the Executive Mansion earlier in the day.
