The General Assembly is sending two bills to Gov. Pat McCrory to sign -- one overhauling the unemployment system and one making vocational education more available in high schools.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The General Assembly is sending two bills to Gov. Pat McCrory to sign – one overhauling the unemployment system and one making vocational education more available in high schools.

Also, the state House tentatively approved legislation that would block provisions of the federal Affordable Care Act in North Carolina. Another bill awaiting final House approval would allow planners to consider a controversial highway route through Garner, and a bill headed to the Senate would permit the famed New Year's Eve Possum Drop to continue in Brasstown.
