    Hurricane Norbert strengthened Wednesday into an extremely powerful Category 4 storm off Mexico's Pacific coast and was on track to hit the southern Baja California peninsula over the weekend.

Question: What is the difference between sleet and freezing rain?

Answer: A cooling question considering we are heading into summer. Sleet is solid grains of ice formed by the freezing of raindrops or the refreezing of largely melted snowflakes. These grains usually bounce upon impact with the ground. Freezing rain occurs when rain freezes on surfaces (such as the ground, trees, power lines, streets, etc.) that have a temperature of 32o F or below.
