Scattered showers likely through Saturday

Those who plan to attend the hometown celebration for "American Idol" contestant Scotty McCreery at Garner's Lake Benson Park Saturday could see some precipitation.

Look for increasing clouds and spotty rain Friday morning, WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said. The afternoon will be warm and wet, and that is the forecast for Saturday as well, when Garner has planned a rain-or-shine celebration for local "American Idol" contestant Scotty McCreery.

Conditions in the Triangle will grow more unstable as the day goes on Friday, bringing an increasing chance for showers.

On Saturday, a cool front will reduce the humidity, but the chance for showers remains greater than 50 percent until about noon on Sunday.

"It looks like there will be pockets of sun at 2 and 3 p.m. Saturday," Fishel said. "Don't give up on the parade and concert just yet."
