Dreary Friday comes before warm Easter weekend

"It's just going to be a chilly and damp day for us," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said Friday morning.

Patches of light rain and scattered showers will drift across the state throughout the day, but the overall rainfall total won't be high.

"You're going to need your umbrella wherever you are," Gardner said.

Temperatures will struggle to get into the low 60s in the afternoon, and for most of Friday, it will feel like it's in the 50s.

The chilly, damp weather, though, won't gain a hold on North Carolina.

"It really will only last today, then move on out of here, and we'll be back to some more sunshine," Gardner said.

After a few rain showers lingering Saturday morning, the weekend will dry out. It will stay mostly to partly cloudy, and temperatures will reach into the low 80s Saturday and mid to upper 80s Sunday.

"It's going to be a nice, warm Easter Sunday," Gardner said.

The warm weather will last into next work week, with temperatures rising into the mid 80s for most of it.
