Spring starts with see-sawing temperatures

The first day of spring in North Carolina will see normal temperatures, but for the next week, temperatures will be see-sawing above and below the seasonal averages.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The first day of spring in North Carolina will see normal temperatures, but for the next week, temperatures will be see-sawing above and below the seasonal averages.

Spring officially begins with the vernal equinox at 7:21 p.m. Sunday.

The day's high is likely to be in the low 60s – about normal for this time of year, WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said. He said "there's a very slight chance of a sprinkle late in the day or tonight, but most of us are going to miss out on those."

Overnight, a warm front will roll through North Carolina.

"Monday, we see a warming trend kick off," Moss said.

Monday will see a high around 75 degrees, and Tuesday will be even warmer – up into the low 80s. Temperatures stay above normal through Thursday.

Then on Friday, they will crash when a cold front comes arrives. Friday and next Saturday will likely see highs in the upper 50s.
