Slick spots north, west of Triangle delaying schools

RALEIGH, N.C. — Lingering drizzle and below-freezing temperatures combined to create some slick spots north and west of the Triangle early Tuesday.
Orange County, Alamance Burlington, Caswell County and Mecklenburg County, Va., are among the schools operating on a two-hour delay.
A winter weather advisory has been issued until 10 a.m. for more than 30 North Carolina counties, including Alamance, Durham, Granville, Orange, Person and Vance.
“I don’t think we’ll have widespread problems,” said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.
A very light glaze of ice is expected, but temperatures should warm to above the freezing mark by 10 a.m.
Warmer temperatures are on the way as Tuesday afternoon reaches 51 degrees and Wednesday could see nearly 60 degrees. Cooler air comes back on Saturday with a high around 38 degrees.
