Rain, wet snowflakes expected to move into Triangle Saturday
Triangle residents can expect to see rain and wet snowflakes Saturday evening, clearing up in time for a precipitation-free Sunday, WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said Friday evening.
Posted — UpdatedSkies will be clear overnight Friday, but cloud cover will take over Saturday morning.
By Saturday afternoon, a rain storm from the south will move north and east, mingling with a snow storm from the west.
Some areas may get a dusting of snow, while others will experience a mix of rain and snow. The precipitation will continue moving east throughout the evening.
Some models show rain changing to snow in the Triangle around 7 p.m. The snow would continue to fall until around 10 p.m.
The snow would clear the Triangle by early Sunday.
Sunday and Monday are expected to be precipitation-free, with highs in the low 40s.
Another weather system on Tuesday again raises the possibility of snow or rain.
"We're expecting rain, but the way things have gone lately, we've got a close eye on Tuesday," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "We're not ruling out the chance of something frozen on Tuesday."
