Snow make-up days

The following school systems have announced make-up days for classes missed on Dec. 16, 2010 and Jan. 11, 2011 due to snow.

The following school systems have announced make-up days for classes missed on Dec. 16, 2010 and Jan. 11, 2011 due to snow.

Wake County:  Year-round students will make up Dec. 16 on Jan. 22 and students on modified calendars will make up the day on March 14. Students on traditional calendars in Wake County will make up Jan. 11on Feb. 22. Modified calendars have a make-up day March 15, and Wake Early College will make it up April 1.
Durham County: Traditional calendar schools will make up Jan. 11 on  Jan. 22 (Student Early Release Schedule/No before or after-school care will be provided) April 25 is the make-up day for Jan. 12. Year-round students will make up Jan. 11 on June 10 and Jan. 12 on June 13. 
Chatham County: The protected teacher workday on Jan. 18 will be changed to a regular school day. Jan. 19 was a designated make-up day on the school year calendar and will be changed from a workday to a regular school day. Jan. 24 will be changed from a regular school day to a protected teacher workday. Additionally, the second semester of the 2010-2011 school year will begin Jan. 25.
Cumberland County: (tentative snow make-up days proposed) 

Traditional calendar schools will have make-up days on Jan. 24, Feb. 21, March 28 and April 22. Each of these days students will be released two hours earlier than normal with the remainder of the day as a teacher work-day.

Howard Health & Life Science will have make-up days on Feb. 21, March 11, April 22 and May 2. Each of these days students will be released two hours earlier than normal with the remainder of the day as a teacher work-day.

Cross Creek Early College and Fuller Performance Learning Center will have make-up days on Feb. 21, March 18, April 11 and May 25. Each of these days students will be released two hours earlier than normal with the remainder of the day as a teacher work-day.

Year-round calendar students will have make-up days on Feb. 21, March 11 and April 22. Each of these days students will be released two hours earlier than normal with the remainder of the day as a teacher work-day.

Johnston County:  Traditional calendar schools will make up the Dec. 16 and Jan. 11 cancelations on Jan. 20 and Feb. 21. A teacher workday has been moved from Jan. 21 to Jan. 24, meaning students should plan to attend school on Jan. 21. Students will have a vacation day on Jan. 24. Students attending the Academic Enhancement Calendar Schools will make up the days on March 7 and May 20. Early and Middle Colleges will make up Dec. 16 on March 7.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro: The make-up day for Dec. 16 will be Jan. 18, which was originally scheduled as a teacher workday following Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Hoke County: Students at Hoke County High School, Turlington Alternative School, SandHoke Early College High School, Hawkeye Elementary School and Sandy Grove Elementary School will attend school on Jan. 29 (to make up Jan. 10),  Feb. 5  (to make up Jan. 11) and Feb. 12 (to make up  Jan. 12)

Students at Don Steed Elementary School, East Hoke Middle School, McLauchlin Elementary School, Rockfish Hoke Elementary School, Scurlock Elementary School, Upchurch Elementary School, West Hoke Elementary School, and West Hoke Middle School will attend school on Jan. 29 (to make up Jan. 10), Feb. 5 (to make up Jan. 11) , Feb. 12 (to make up Jan. 12) and Feb. 14 (to make up for Dec. 16)

On January 29, February 5, and February 12, Hoke County schools will observe an early release schedule. Elementary schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m., and middle and high schools will release at 1:30 p.m.

Moore County: Make-up days scheduled are Jan. 15, Jan. 22, Feb. 21 and April 22. NOTE: Saturday, Jan. 15, and Saturday, Jan. 22, will have early dismissal four hours after each school's regular start time. No lunch will be served.
Wayne County: Jan. 18, 19 and Feb. 14 will be student make-up days. In addition, Jan. 21 will be rescheduled as a Designated Teacher Workday. This calendar revision will also move the last student day of the school year from June 9 to June 10.
