— Temperatures at Raleigh-Durham International Airport hit 87 degrees on Tuesday – a record-breaking temperature for this time of year.

The previous record was set in 1962 when the high at RDU reached 85 degrees.

WRAL Weather team WRAL WeatherCenter Forecast

Tuesday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the upper 50s to near 60. Wednesday will be partly to mostly cloudy and not as warm. Showers are possible late Wednesday into early Thursday.

“As our next weather system approaches, we may see a sprinkle or light shower develop in spots, with a very slight chance of a thundershower,” WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. “Winds will switch to a northeasterly direction, and that will help to keep temperatures a bit cooler as well, with highs in the mid 70s north to low 80s south.”

Friday will be mostly sunny and cooler, and the weekend “looks beautiful,” according to Gardner.

" I bet I can find more data out there from legitimate scientist that point to an actual cooling right now as opposed to the warming these guys are talking about."

Please do go find this research and show it too all of us! It should be quite enlightening

There is no debate. Global Warming is FAKE. During "snowmageddon" and last years brutal winter, scientists said "no no no this does not disprove global warming because weather is not the same as climate." Now this summer with record highs, people are proclaiming global warming. Hypocrisy.

Gotta love those right wing "scientists"!! Can't trust the experts on a scientific topic, but you can absolutely trust the right wing talk show hosts, coal companies, and multi-billion dollar oil companies. They have proven that they really care about the environment - heck, they even said so themselves. Now those evil, money-grubbing scientists from all over the world simply cannot be trusted because they're only in it for the money!!!! Too funny!

"It was 87 degrees at the airport....which is stupid, because no one LIVES at the airport........downtown is much hotter.....downtown is on FIRE, man."

lets look back 10 thousand years and we might just establish a trend."

Scientists have been looking back 10,000 years and further. One of the best methods for this is ice-core samples from Antartica and Greenland. What they see is a rather alarming uptick in Global temperatures over the last 25 years. They're also able to measure the actual amount of CO2 in the air, which is now at its highest level in all of human history. These are just the facts.

Yeah and what was coming to an end 10,000 years ago...oh wait an ICE AGE...

Do you mean that Global Warming has been happening since 8,000 BC??? OH MY GOD...

    Over it

"here's hoping to better accuracy than they've accomplished over the last decade" Meeker is a PQ

Exactly correct. These weather guys can't even hit the mark two or three days out and they want to jump on board with a bunch of lying professors who were found to be falsifying data about global warming? And some were and are dumb enough to buy into it. The earth has been around for hundreds of MILLIONS of years people. It goes through cycles. Some hot and some cold. In fact, I bet I can find more data out there from legitimate scientist that point to an actual cooling right now as opposed to the warming these guys are talking about. Just remember to follow the money trail and you will see why warming is a hot topic in the political arena. Do some reading. It is out there

"If it was at the airport it doesn't count."

Even if the previous high was recorded at the airport as well?

  • veyor Oct 12, 2010

If it was at the airport it doesn't count.

  • meBNme Oct 12, 2010

Thats my point. History shows that the earth goes through cycles.
Mankind may or may not survive it, that is debatable.
But looking at the last ten years alone paints a very inaccurate picture.

If we act on that innacurate picture, then the chances of us doing the wrong thing are off the charts.
