Heavy rain, flash flooding possible
Overflowing creeks and flooded roads are possible again Wednesday as scattered storms strike portions of the Triangle.

Wednesday will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Thunderstorms, localized heavy downpours and flash flooding are possible in the afternoon and evening.
A warm front drifting through the state helped create showers and some thunderstorms in central North Carolina on Tuesday. Creeks overflowed and roads were covered with water after storm clusters brought heavy downpours and damaging winds.
Motorist Naomi Mireles was driving on Lower Moncure Road in Chatham County when her car stalled in standing water.
"We were trying to come through, but it was flooded,” Mireles said. "I thought that was it, that my car was gone.”
Sheriff's deputies blocked traffic on Farrell Road in Lee County after rain flooded the roadway.
"It was quite impressive. There was rapid water going over the road, about 6 to 8 inches,” motorist Trevor Boyle said.
Throughout the day, western Wake County saw about 4 inches of rain, while Chatham and Lee counties had as much as 5 inches.
