FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Heavy rain hit areas south of the Triangle on Friday night.

A line of storms pushed through the Fayetteville area in the evening, bringing the chance of hail and cloud to ground lightning.

Cumberland county officials said there were no serious reports of flooding.

Up to 6 inches of rain were reported in Bladen County, WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said. In Hoke County, about 2 inches of rain fell.

The storms were expected to die down as the night progresses, Maze said.
