RALEIGH, N.C. — Clouds will fill the skies and temperatures will take a dive Wednesday, but fans of warmer weather shouldn't despair: The cool down will be short-lived.

After days of highs in the 70s and 80s, Wednesday will see a highs in the low to mid 60s.

"We've been in the shorts and T-shirts routine for the past couple weeks. You may want to put those away today," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

A cold front that arrived in the state overnight will continue to pump in clouds throughout the day.

"There may be some mist and drizzle embedded in the clouds," Gardner said. "I don't think we're going to see any measurable rain out of this."

And by Thursday, the warm, sunny weather returns.

"Tomorrow looks like a nice day – more sunshine, temperatures jump back up into the mid-70s," Gardner said. "You can pull out your shorts and T-shirts again."
