Comfortable days, cold nights ahead for central N.C.
Clear skies will help temperatures get into the upper 50s Friday, but once the sun sets, the mercury will drop quickly. Central North Carolina is under a freeze warning overnight into Saturday morning.

Daytime temperatures will reach into the upper 50s under sunny skies Friday, but they will fall quickly once the sun sets.
"Temperatures will easily fall into the 40s during the evening football games, but it would be more towards the middle and end of the games that this would occur," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.
Friday night could be the coldest night so far this season, dipping down into the low 30s.
Central North Carolina is under a frost warning until 9 a.m. Sensitive outdoor plants might be killed if left uncovered.
After the chilly temperatures, the weekend will heat up, with highs in the mid-60s Saturday and mid-70s Sunday.
"From now until Saturday morning, the high will have more of a cooling influence, but once it migrates out into the Atlantic Ocean and we get back into a southerly flow, it will become more of a warming influence," Gardner said.
