A wash of late-afternoon showers dumped on Wake County Monday, capping a mostly seasonable Labor Day weekend.

"Our Labor Day holiday was filled with clouds and some rain due to an area of low pressure at the southern coast. As the system spun in a counter-clockwise fashion, moisture was thrown back inland towards central North Carolina and the result was clouds and scattered rain," WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze explained.

Tuesday looks to be mostly cloudy with rain more likely in the morning, but possible into the afternoon, Maze said.

"As the work week unfolds, look for partly cloudy, warm days with highs in the 80s," he said. High temperatures are forecast to climb gradually through the week.
