Hot weather tips

Posted Updated

The National Weather Service offers these tips for surviving hot weather:

  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Stay out of the sunshine and air-conditioning room if at all possible.
  • Check up on relatives and neighbors, particularly the elderly.
  • If you have to go out doors, plan your activities to mitigate the effects of the heat. Limit time spend outdoors in the afternoon and, if possible, go out in the early morning or late evening when it is cooler.
  • A heat index of 105 degrees indicates the level where many people begin to experience physical stress, even with limited activity.
