RALEIGH, N.C. — A cold front moving through the state caused some rain throughout the WRAL viewing area Thursday evening.

Some showers caused severe thunderstorm warnings in several counties including Wake. Johnston County saw the brunt of the severe weather.

By late Thursday, the storms were mainly to the west of the Triangle.

The front, which is moving eastward from the mountains, will be slow to make its way into the area and slow to clear the region. The chance of rain will remain overnight and for areas east of Interstate 95 on Friday.

"By Friday morning we should at least see some partial sunshine," WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said.

High temperatures on Friday are expected in the lower 90s.
