Central North Carolina residents could wake up Monday to some severe weather, just in time for the morning commute.

"There is the potential that we could see some damaging wind gusts and maybe an isolated tornado from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.," WRAL Meteorologist Mike Maze said.

However, if low-level moisture does not develop overnight, severe weather will not be likely.

"We just have a small opportunity to get that moisture in here as the next cold front approaches from the West," Maze said.

Afternoon skies will be cloudy and windy with temperatures climbing to the low 70s. Monday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 39 degrees as the cold front moves in.

Temperatures Tuesday will drop to the low 30s.
