Blustery Sunday to blow in dry weather
Most of Sunday will be dry and cloudy, though a few evening showers are possible. That will give central and eastern North Carolina a chance to dry out.
Posted — UpdatedSunday will also be windy, with gusts up to 30 or 40 mph. The winds could topple some shallow-rooted trees in the saturated soil and might cause some sporadic power outages.
"It's not totally calm, because it's going to be a little gusty out there," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said. "But that's not such a big deal compared to some of the severe weather that we have had in the southern and eastern parts of our viewing area the past few days."
Meanwhile, temperatures will stay springlike, reaching a high in the upper 60s for the next couple days.
"We had plenty of sunshine Sunday with temperatures soaring into the upper 70's," WRAL meteorologist Kim Deaner said.
Late Sunday's weather – cloudy, dry and mild – will set a pattern for the week.
On Monday, North Carolinians will get another chance for sunshine, but the sun's appearance will be short lived.
"Monday's temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60's," Deaner said.
The next weather system will bring rain overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday.
