Cold, rainy weather continues

"We finished out the week yesterday with a cold rain across the area. ... We're going to see similar conditions to kick the weekend off today," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.
Rain should continue on and off into Saturday night, WRAL meteorologist Kim Deaner said.
By mid-day Sunday, between a half-inch and 1.25 inches of rain could have fallen. That comes on top of Friday's rainfall, which totaled 0.5 inches in Raleigh, 0.75 inches in Rocky Mount and 0.15 inches in Fayetteville.
The bulk of the new rain will fall from late Saturday morning through mid-day Sunday. Rainfall totals will likely be higher north, west and around Raleigh.
A "wide shield of rain and showers" pushed into central and eastern North Carolina Saturday morning, Moss said.
The rain will taper off in central North Carolina Sunday morning and move off to the east.
Meanwhile, the weekend's highs will be 10 to 15 degrees below the normal highs in the low 60s.
Temperatures likely won't get above the low 40s Saturday, but they'll edge up into the low 50s Sunday. Overnight lows will stay around 40 degrees both nights.
