Thunderstorms pass through Triangle
Severe thunderstorms passed through several counties Saturday evening, leaving thousands of households without power.

Thunderstorm warnings were issued for Cumberland, Harnett, Johnston and Sampson counties until about 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
About 3,000 Progress Energy customers in Wake County were without power for awhile.
Doppler radar indicated heavy rain was falling and could result in minor flooding. One inch of rainfall was expected to occur in less than 30 minutes, according to the National Weather Service.
“(We heard) the rumble at the (WRAL) studio,” meteorologist Chris Thompson said. “We’ll have some gusty winds and a lot of lightning with these storms.”
Sunday will be cloudy with a few showers and thunderstorms possible, mainly in the afternoon. The best chance for rain will be in the south and east over the Sandhills and Coastal Plain.
Sunday's highs will be in the mid 80s to low 90s.
Monday will be partly sunny and warm with a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm.
