Large hail reported in Durham during storms
Rain moved through the state Saturday evening, prompting some severe thunderstorm warnings and a report of hail in Durham County.

During the day temperatures neared the 90-degree mark. The increased temperatures brought an increased risk of showers and thunderstorms.
Hit-or-miss showers developed in central and eastern North Carolina during the early evening as a system swinging in from the northwest created an unstable air mass.
Some areas saw three to four inches of rain. Durham County reported one-inch sized hail.
Overnight Saturday most of the rain was expected to die out, but a cold front coming through the area on Sunday brings a renewed chance of hit-or miss showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Areas south and east of Raleigh will see the greatest chance of severe weather Sunday, with penny-sized hail and damaging winds up to 60 mph remaining the biggest threat.
That cold front, though, will not drive away the summer-like heat – Sunday's high will be around 86 degrees.
