Weather Upgrades Let Users Customize Forecasts, Radar

We've made some significant changes to the WRAL.com Weather section that give you more information -- and the ability to customize it.

We've made some significant changes to the WRAL.com Weather section that give you more information -- and the ability to customize it.

First, the 5-Day Forecast is now interactive. Clicking on a specific day will give you a more detailed forecast for that day in text. Better yet, you can type in any city or zip code in the United States and get 5-day graphical and detailed text forecasts, plus current conditions and data from personal weather stations near your selected location. (Click the red "Full Details" button, and then the red "Personal Weather Stations" button.)

The enhancements don't stop there.

If you have registered with WRAL.com, you can customize the five-day forecast displayed on all subsequent visits to the WRAL.com Weather section by clicking the red "Remember Location" button.

You also can change the DUALDoppler5000 view you see by default when visiting WRAL.com. Just pick a view from the drop-down menu in the second column under the radar image, then click the "Remember this location" link. You'll get the selected radar map by default on future visits to WRAL.com. You can change locations at any time.

Remember, the custom forecast and radar settings require that you register with WRAL.com and  be logged in during your visit. You can do both at the top of any page, just to the left of the Search box.

Finally, we've added Ask Greg, a compilation of answers to frequently asked weather questions. We display some of the most popular ones by default, but you also can search an archive of hundreds of questions and answers. And if you don't see what you're looking for, submit your own questions for Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel and the rest of the WRAL WeatherCenter team to answer.

We hope you enjoy the changes. Check them out now in the Weather section.
