RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina is in for some beautiful spring weather through the weekend, a big shift from Wednesday's strong storms.

"Right now we have beautiful weather and sunshine. The rain from yesterday is out of here," WRAL Meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

Thursday's high is 74, although much of the area experienced chilly morning temperatures before a gradual warmup.

"It's pleasantly cool across the area, and we're running a good bit cooler than yesterday," Gardner said.

The pattern continues Friday with cooler morning temperatures and highs in the low 70s with low humidity. Saturday will be mostly sunny and warmer, with temperatures reaching the upper 70s.

Sunday is expected to be perfect for any outdoor Mother's Day celebrations, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and a high of 79.

The weather will shift after the weekend, bringing clouds and a chance of rain Monday.

"The showers will roll back in early next week," Gardner said.
