RALEIGH, N.C. — Weekend storms have washed away hotter than normal temperatures that soared over 90 degrees last week.

Some drizzle and lots of clouds lingered as Sunday dawned with temperatures in the 60s. The mercury won't rise much more, giving the day a high around 74 degrees.

"After the heat that we had this week, we are getting back to kind of normal here for this next week," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.

The high to mid 70s are predicted for every day this week, except Tuesday when they could reach the low 80s.

A daily high of 77 or 78 degrees is average for this week in May, Moss said.

The first half of the week will be cloudy, with a chance of storms popping up on Tuesday and Wednesday. The skies will clear Thursday, giving way to sunny, mild and generally gorgeous weather.

"Looks we'll be a little cooler and brighter as we finish out the week," Moss said.
