RALEIGH, N.C. — Sunny skies on Thursday won't keep the week from ending on a chilly, wet note Friday around central and eastern North Carolina.

Breezes will kick up around the Triangle Thursday as the high hits around 66 degrees. By midnight, a cold front will arrive, and the rain will begin.

"Starting tomorrow, the rain rolls in, and it's going to make our morning commute a bit messy," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

The rain will continue through Friday morning, then taper off throughout the afternoon. Between a half-inch to an inch of precipitation could fall.

Temperatures will stay cool, reaching a high in the upper 50s.

Clouds and rain will clear out for Saturday.

"The chill stays in the air Saturday, with a high of only 55 degrees," Gardner said.

A slight warm-up will begin Sunday, with the mercury rising into the low to mid 60s. By Tuesday, the high could hit 70 degrees.
