Triangle welcomes fall weather for the weekend

Fall temperatures will make their debut in the Triangle this weekend after a cold front pushed through the area during the day Friday.

Temperatures were well below average Saturday, but fall isn't yet here to stay, said WRAL Meteorologist Kim Deaner. The weather pattern will return to normal by the middle of next week with highs climbing into the mid 70s and lows in the upper 40s and 50s, she said.

"After some summer-like weather the last couple of weeks with highs in the 80s and a really moist weather pattern, we've really changed here and will have fall weather conditions this weekend," Moss said.

High temperatures will climb into the mid 60s Saturday and Sunday while lows will fall into the low to mid 40s. Moss said some rural areas could see lows in the upper 30s Sunday and Monday morning.

"We'll see more cooling between today and tomorrow," Moss said. "Along with the cooler weather we'll be a little breezy."

Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy on Sunday with a chance for sprinkling rain.

A line of thunderstorms marched across central North Carolina Friday afternoon, dumping heavy rain across much of the viewing and delaying some high school football games. Following the rain, a cool northwesterly wind dropped temperatures sharply heading into Saturday.
